Planet Green Recycling Program: Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate in the Planet Green Recycle program?
Currently, anyone in the continental United States can participate in the Planet Green Recycle program. This includes schools, non-profit/charitable organizations, religious groups, sport teams, and more. At the moment, we aren’t able to provide free shipping labels to locations outside of the continental United States through the regular system. Please inquire with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (800) 377-1093 if you would like to set up an account located outside of the continental United States, and we may be able to work something out.
How do I get started?
Fill in the information in the green box in the upper right-hand corner of our website, and click GET YOUR FREE ACCOUNT to begin. Once your account is approved, you will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to verify your account and complete the sign up process. Then, you can send your ink cartridges and small electronics, and promote your Planet Green Recycle program right away!
What is my Unique Link?
When you sign up to get your free account, you will be asked to create a unique identifying link. It’s like a username for social media. You’ll send people to that link (https://planetgreenrecycle.com/username) to sign up as an Envirofriend, print labels, or buy cartridges.
How do I invite my family, friends and neighbors to join my recycling program?
You can send them your unique link (https://planetgreenrecycle.com/username), which will take them to a web page where they can sign up as an Envirofriend of your organization.
OR you can use the Tell A Friend feature on our website to invite your community to join your recycling program. When you log in to your account, you will see the “Tell A Friend” feature at the bottom of the homepage. Enter your friend’s name and email address, and then they will be sent an email that explains your fundraising program and how they can sign up!
Does the Planet Green Recycle program cost me anything?
There is absolutely no cost to you or your supporters! We also provide the following: 1) pre-paid shipping labels, 2) promotional materials, 3) a unique Planet Green Recycle website to promote and administer your program, and 4) helpful customer service to assist with any questions you may have.
Do you require we sign a contract to participate in this program?
Nope! You can start your Planet Green Recycle program and participate at your discretion.
How will I ensure that my family, friends and neighbors that want to participate in my recycling program sign up correctly, and that the funds we have raised will all go back to the same organization?
As the main contact of your organization, you can ensure that your family, friends and neighbors sign up to support your organization by sending them your unique link, or a Tell A Friend email. From there, they can choose to sign up as an Envirofriend of your organization.
When do I receive my first check?
We will send a check the month after your earnings total more than $25. If you have less than $25 in your earnings, we will hold it as credit until you reach that amount.
What happens to the items Planet Green receives?
Planet Green has a 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility where we remanufacture many of the products you send in. Items that cannot be remanufactured, or are in poor condition will be recycled through our US-based certified recycling partners.
Do you require a minimum amount of items to use the pre-paid shipping labels when sending in inkjet cartridges and small electronics?
No, there is no minimum amount of items required to mail your recyclables with the pre-paid shipping labels. There is also no maximum number, so please feel free to include as little or as many items as you’d like!
Is there a maximum weight for the boxes I want to send using the free shipping label?
No, there is no maximum amount of items or maximum weight on the shipment. You are welcome to include as many items as will fit in your package!
What type of items do you accept for recycling?

REMINDER: Items that are sent in that are not mentioned above will be processed, but will not be compensated for. These items may not appear in your inspection report.
However, there are also items that Planet Green does not accept, including but not limited to: toner cartridges, laptops, computers and its accessories, monitors, televisions, printers, scanners, etc.
Do you accept remanufactured or compatible cartridges?
Planet Green Recycle accepts all ink cartridges, regardless of their make, model or condition. However, we only pay for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ink cartridges that are in good condition and can be remanufactured.
Do you accept lasers/toners?
No, Planet Green is not accepting laser/toner cartridges for recycling.
How do I tell the difference between an inkjet cartridge and a laser/toner ink cartridge?
An inkjet cartridge is typically small and can fit in the palm of your hand. These cartridges are most often used for desktop printers. A toner or laser cartridge is a long cartridge that is typically used in a high-volume printer or office-style copy machine.
Do you accept accessories such as lithium batteries, chargers, etc.?
Yes. We encourage you to send in any accessories and we will responsibly recycle these items for you. However, we do not provide compensation at this time. Please note that we do not accept alkaline batteries.
You do not have to send accessories along with your small electronics, except for game consoles.
Do you accept large e-waste items such as computers, monitors, televisions, printers and scanners?
No, Planet Green does not accept large e-waste items, only small electronics.
I am ready to ship my items. What do I do next?
If you’re ready to ship, please follow these simple steps.
- Pack your item(s) into any padded envelope, old sturdy box, or other package. You don’t need to sort your items, but we highly suggest using old newspaper to pad cell phones and other small electronics. It’s a good idea to place ink cartridges in plastic grocery bags, too. This will protect your items in transit and ensure you get the best payout possible.
- Log in to your Planet Green Recycle account to download a pre-paid shipping label for each package. You will see a green “Recycle” banner at the top of your homepage, and then click the yellow button to get your free shipping label. Scroll down and click the “Download Free Shipping Label” button to print your label.
- Print and affix the label to your padded envelope or box.
- Drop your package off to any UPS store/driver. Do not schedule a pick-up as there is an extra charge for this, and Planet Green does not reimburse for UPS pick-up charges.
Do I need to use my own boxes to ship the recyclables to you?
Yes, you should use any old box to ship your items to us (this is the “reuse” in “reduce, reuse, recycle!”). Make sure it’s sturdy and will survive shipping. Online Ordering for Planet Green Ink Cartridges
Can I order by mail?
Yes, you can order by mail. For a quicker buying experience, we suggest you log in to your account to place your order online. If you do not have an account yet or prefer other methods, you can place your order via phone by dialing (800) 377-1093, faxing to (818) 772-0816, or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How much is shipping?
The price for shipping is a flat rate of $5.25. Orders over $50.00 receive free shipping or you can arrange to pick up your order.
Which credit cards to you accept?
We accept all credit cards, including VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
Do you take purchase orders?
No, we do not take purchase orders.
Do you accept international orders?
No, we do not accept international orders nor do we sell internationally.
Can I combine two orders?
We are unable to combine orders once they are processed in the system. On rare occasions we can combine an order if we’re notified before the order is processed and ready for shipping.
How do I return an item?
You can call us at (800) 377-1093 or send an email to email@example.com to tell us which item you’re returning or exchanging and the reason. Before sending any ink cartridges back to us, we will send a new ink cartridge as a replacement and an RMA label for your return/exchange.
